| Carolyn's lifelong love of art and her affinity to Oscar Wilde and the aesthetic movement influence her work. Her strength lies in her portraiture and this is what she has concentrated on.
In 2012 she re-evaluated her priorities and with the award of Arts Council England funding for a 2-year project "Exploring the Weimar Culture and Art Movements'. Carolyn was successful in gaining an artist in residency programme with Takt in Berlin, Germany.
In 2014 Carolyn completed a 3-month artist in residency programme in Friedrichshain, Berlin followed by a group show at Tapir Galerie. Further research work was followed by exhibitions including The Brick Lane Gallery, London and engagements in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
Carolyn returned to Berlin for a 6 week Solo Exhibition at Tapir Galerie in 2015. Following this she lived in Prenzlauerberg with a modern and fully equipped studio to work in, allowing her creative energies free reign.
On her return she exhibited at The Charles Rennie Mackintosh House Gallery; 78 Derngate, with an aptly named exhibition; “Gesamtkunstwerk” (‘A Total Work of Art’). A very successful solo exhibition followed at Oakapple Art Studios & Gallery in Mears Ashby in January 2016 and a solo exhibition at ‘exhibiteo Galerie’ Mitte, Berlin.
Carolyn lives and works in Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Berlin.
